The first display is of a document where the numbers have been obliterated.  The same document displayed on the right is a document that is examined with the Foster & Freeman Video Spectral Comparator which reveals the obliterated numerals.

Rosemarie Urbanski, M.F.S., questioned document examiner, operates a complete forensic laboratory specializing in document examination and signature validation. The laboratory is equipped with advanced digital computerized imaging equipment to include the Foster & Freeman Video Spectral Comparator which can differentiate ink.  Questioned document examination techniques are utilized to expose forgeries and alterations to allow the document examiner to display differences in infra-red absorption, infra-red luminescence, visible luminescence, watermarks and paper opacity within the questioned document.

Questioned documents can be examined to determine the relative age of ink and to read indentations that may reveal writings that are invisible to the unaided eye.  Rosemarie is also certified in the analysis and comparison of latent fingerprints and can retrieve fingerprints from paper utilizing high intensity light, chemical and powder techniques.  In addition, our laboratory can process questioned documents for DNA analysis.

Rosemarie Urbanski has been a forensic questioned document examiner and expert witness for over thirty years. In 1988, she interned for three years under the tutorship of  Arthur Walters, a world renown forensic document examiner and handwriting expert.  Mr. Walters retired from the US Army Criminal Investigation Division, where he was the commander of the Forensic Document Laboratory.   He also retired as the section head of the Arizona Dept. of Public Safety, Questioned Document Section. Rosemarie continued working cases with Mr. Walters until his death in 1997.

Rosemarie Urbanski holds a masters degree in forensic science and has testified as an "expert witness" in federal, state, and municipal courts. She has taken advanced training in forensic microscopy and is an active member of the Association of Forensic Document Examiners. She is also a member of the Forensic Science Society,, the International Association for Identification, Document Section, and the Association of Forensic Document Examiners. She is also a former adjunct professor, forensic document examination and comparison, at a local college.  Recent cases that she has been retained include the US Justice Department, US Homeland Security, Arizona Attorney General's Office,  and Illinois Attorney General's Office.
